Recycling Aluminum

Recycling aluminum results in a net savings of 95 percent of the energy it takes to produce new aluminum from bauxite. Recycling a simple 6-inch piece of Arch Aluminum channel can save enough electricity to power a TV for more than three hours. The aluminum recycling process uses far less energy, produces less emissions, and saves money. The aluminum industry goes to significant lengths to encourage recycling of all post-consumer aluminum—in automobiles, construction, packaging, and consumer products. The net effect of the recycling infrastructure that the industry has set up to capture these efficiencies is that over two-thirds of all the aluminum ever produced is still in use today!

Recycling Glass

Recycling GlassRecycling glass requires 33 percent less energy than producing glass from sand, soda ash, and limestone. In addition, glass produced from recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent.

In more specific terms, recycling the glass from a typical Arch shower door or standard size window can save enough energy to power a computer for more than 30 minutes.
